My View: The community that could
FORCE Gala and Silent Auction another sell out!
Once again, the Community showed its commitment to oppose the St Marys Cement CBM quarry application by attending the second - "Friends a Vital FORCE in Our Community" - Gala and Silent Auction. The event was a complete sell out.
A highlight of the evening was the "Silent Auction". We had more items donated than in the previous year. That translated directly into more funds raised for our cause. Another high point was your standing ovation for the young and very talented entertainers presented at the Gala.
Just as importantly the evening gave all of us an opportunity to get reacquainted with old friends and make some new ones as well.
We would also like to acknowledge some of the short comings that occurred at this year's event:
- There was a lengthy delay between the appetizer and the main course. This delay created a ripple effect throughout the evening that resulted in the gala ending about one hour later than scheduled.
- There were some comments that preparation of the main course was inconsistent and that some people received food that did not meet their expectations.
We can assure you that we have shared our concerns with the Carlisle Golf and Country Club. We have also commenced a review of available facilities in the local area to determine if another location would be more appropriate for next year's event.
Once again we would like to thank for attending the FORCE Gala this year and you have our commitment that we will endeavour to make next years Gala the best yet.
